Wild Turkey in Wisconsin
The wild turkey is one of Wisconsin success stories because the wildlife managment program keeps the population of the turkey stable. This is good because the turkey hunters like to have a steady population so they can hunt turkey twice a year. I prefer the spring hunt because the turkey are really moving around and seperating. Thats good because they are easier to call in. The population is high this year so I should be able to get at least one tom before the season ends.

2012 Turkey season dates
The dates posted below are the dates of the spring turkey season. I will end up probably getting period C for zone 3, but it all depends on how long the snow stays. If the snow is gone fast during period A then the turkey will start to seperate and will be gobbling. This year I am after the big tom, he has a double, and is close to 30 pounds!!! I am so excited, wish me luck!
Each period of the spring turkey season will be extended by two days. The dates
for each period during the 2012 season are as follows:
a. Period A April 11-17
b. Period B April 18-24
c. Period C April 25- May 1
d. Period D May 2-8
e. Period E May 9-15
f. Period F May 16-22Tuesday, December 6, 2011
Holiday Hunt
The holiday hunt is one of my favorite hunts because there is snow on the ground and it’s easier to see anything that’s moving. Its also more of a challenging hunt because it’s a lot colder so it is harder to stay out longer and wait for the deer. You are going to get as much time in the woods as opening weekend though because the season is a few days longer than the regular gun season. I have spent 50 dollars on tags and me and my father need to get at least one deer to fill our freezer.
